Vanadium (V)
Role in plants
Vanadium can substitute for molybdenum in some nitrogen-fixing systems and may stimulate growth at very low concentrations.
Deficiency symptoms
- Not well defined
- Reduced nitrogen metabolism efficiency in responsive species
Toxicity symptoms
- Growth suppression
- Leaf chlorosis and necrosis at elevated levels
Natural sources
- Parent rock materials
- Volcanic soils
Agronomic note
Vanadium is rarely managed directly and is primarily of academic or specialist interest.
Plant interaction forms
- VO₄³⁻ and related oxyanions
